As always there is just something a little thrilling about a MMF book. Nothing is as much fun as friends to rivals to lovers. Brooke is exactly what Shane and John need and she helps them in so many ways and the chemistry between these three is off the charts. If you like a little romance and a lot of sexiness with a side of good story then this is for you.
Brooke, John and Shane are absolutely HOT together. The way that Brooke dominates them their first time was different than what I usually read. You can tell that there are feelings between John and Shane, and talking about their one time in college was hot. Having someone hack their systems at work causing a major rift between them all was upsetting, but I'm glad they got things worked out. Great read. Thank you for sharing. Made it to 24% and that was a stretch. These characters are so outlandish they're ridiculous and exaggerated. Sorry there is no getting past a man having sex on a private plane and then skydiving from said plane moments after orgasm. After that opening scene it was pulling teeth trying to get to what the heck was going on in this story. Pass on this. Even free it's not worth it.
I was not familiar with this author, when I started reading this book, but I love menages, so I wanted to try it. I am glad that I did. It is a MMF romance, which means that the two men are with each other, as well as with the female in the menage. One of the things that I liked about this book is the hesitancy of John and Shane being with each other, but also desiring it. Then, there is Brook, that is living a fantasy of hers. For all three of them, this takes them out of their comfort zone. It is a well written, enjoyable, hot story of their journey to become three. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced copy, and I am happy that I found this author, and am hoping to read more of hers.
This was one of the better threesome stories I have read. Heather Best did a good job of conveying the hesitations that John and Shane were having. John and Shane used to be best friends in college until something happened that changed them. When Brooke comes into the picture and tells them she wants both of them, they have to decide how far they will go to be with Brooke. As things progress something happens to Shane and John's businesses which tears all three of them apart. Heather Best writes very hot threesome sex. John and Shane are the typical arrogant, egotistical alpha males. Brooke is the artist that knows what she wants and will not compromise on that, she knows how to control them both. John and Shane's journey through their different emotions was interesting. If you like threesomes then in my opinion Heather Best did not disappoint. My biggest complaint was the ending became long winded, this is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. It kind of went on and on. I received and ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review.
There are just too many things wrong with this book.
The writing is so juvenile it reads like something a fifteen year old who's gotten into mommy's stash of erotica would come up with. The mechanics of the sex scenes are immature. The writer's justification of sex between the two men is childish and insecure. The author doesn't have to repeat how masculine the male characters are when engaged in sex.
The manuscript isn't edited which is evident by the poor grammar, lack of sufficient vocabulary as well as the repetition (...he's never been so masculine. I've never felt so masculine) and redundancy (...they look so masculine and manly).
There is a subplot in the narrative that, I feel, Ms. Beaumont included to explain and emphasize the rivalry between the two men. SPOILER ALERT
Someone is hacking into the men's companies making it seem like the they are sabotaging each other. This aspect of the story takes up a considerable amount of the book. Although the reason is to lower the stock prices for each of the businesses in order to have some mysterious entity buy up shares.
I must give the author credit for including this thread of narrative. However, I suspect it is only there to give the story a plot. It is obvious that she doesn't know how to write about corporate sabotage. The mystery is solved when it is revealed that a company in China is behind the hacking. (My last sentence took more explanation to write than the author gives to tell us who did it.) Once that is revealed, in one sentence, it is dropped abruptly.
Brooke's mural on the side of John's building becomes a childish act of revenge at both men's treatment of her. She paints the three of them nude very realistically with homoerotic details.
If I go on much more this review will feel longer than the story.
I cannot recommend this and suggest that the author get an editor.
